Marvin Systermans

Marvin Systermans graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Design from the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in Halle (Saale). In 2019, he received his Master’s degree in Integrated Design with a focus on photography at the University of the Arts Bremen with Professor Peter Bialobrzeski. He is currently based in Berlin working as an artist and freelance photographer and designer. In his work, he focuses on the human relationship with our environment, our urban and rural habitats and the socio-cultural and structural processes of change that shape them. His photographs are documentations of the conditions we create for our coexistence, the traces we leave in the landscapes that surround us and the consequences of human action on nature. His visual language alternates between landscape photography of vast spaces and the pointed details he encounters within them.
