What is TEMA?
TEMA is a pan-European online magazine for pop-journalism and photography. It devotes itself to one topic every two months, which is introduced through an overarching question. This allows us to offer an interdisciplinary approach and to dive deep into various discourses.

Is TEMA only for European people?
Definitely not! Since we are a European magazine, your submission should have some kind of connection to Europe. But please feel free to submit from wherever you come from.🤝
What is pop-journalism?
Pop-journalism is both personal and objective. TEMA articles are emotional, but definitely always factual and well-researched. We do journalism that is young and fresh and uninhibited by established ways of doing things. It smashes the walls that elitist art and culture have erected around themselves and is not afraid to include pop culture in a lively and diverse discourse.
What kind of photography do you do?
With TEMA we try to provide a platform for upcoming artists from all over Europe. Whether it's your secret hobby or you've studied photography – as long as you have something to express with your perspective and your images, we're happy to feature your work.
How can I join TEMA?
Before each issue we publish an Open Call on our website and social media channels. Subscribe to our Instagram account and newsletter to stay up to date.
Do I have to be a professional to submit?
No. Ideally, you should have some kind of work experience in the field of your contribution - but during the editing process we will work together.
Do I have to submit in English?
Ideally, you submit the first draft of your text or artist statement in English. It doesn't have to be perfect. If you prefer to write in German, we can help you with your translation.
Does TEMA pay me for my work?
Unfortunately not at the moment. Our whole team, the editorial staff, authors and photographers work on an entirely voluntary basis. We are currently working towards a solution, because we are convinced that independent journalism and photography must be paid fairly. 💸

Shop
Can I change or cancel my order?
Orders ship every Tuesday. If you send us your change of order or cancellation via email until Monday evening, we will adjust the order for you.
What is the return policy?
If you are not happy with your product you have 14 days to send us a mail with your cancellation. After that you are obliged to return the product at your own cost. We will refund you the full cost of the product. For more information take a look at our Terms and Conditions.
Where do you ship to?
We ship into the EU, as well as Switzerland, Iceland, Norway and the UK. Within the EU, we offer secured shipping and a tracking number. Once your order is shipped, you will receive an email with that number.
How long does the shipment take?
Our products will be shipped once a week on Tuesday, from Cologne, Germany. Depending on where you live, it may take some time until your goods arrive. 📦
What payment methods do you offer?
At the moment you can pay only via credit card or PayPal.
