Maria Leonor Carapuço

Some people call me Maria, others call me Leonor - it is a real identity issue. Either way, I am a 22 year old Portuguese woman currently studying Communication and Politics Consultancy in Lisbon. I like to use writing as a tool for learning about different topics, something I will surely do in my collaboration with TEMA. The only things I am certain in life are that I want to have a positive impact in the world, to deconstruct my own prejudices and to always be compassionate with the people around me. If I achieve this, well, I have achieved much already.

Year of birth: 1998
Country of residence: Portugal

TEMA asks

  1. What time is it?
5:36 pm and my neck hurts

  2. What’s your favourite Emoji?
The little smiley face with hearts all around

  3. Standing at the train station today with a free ticket, where would you go?
Supposing you could go from Portugal to Italy by train, that’s what I’d do. If not, maybe San Sebastian (Spain)?

  4. The best thing about the country you live in:
Just one thing? Impossible… Maybe the weather?

  5. More of this in Europe, please:
    Solidarity at the borders.

  6. Europe can do without:
    Subsidising fossil fuels.

  7. What do you deeply care about?
Learning and trying to live according to my values and helping make the world a better place.

  8. Last book / movie that moved you:
The book “La insumisa” by the Uruguayan author Cristina Peri Rossi.

  9. What song fills you instantly with joy?
Full blown honesty: Nathy Peluso, Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 36

  10. What’s the worst question someone could ask you?
“What kind of music do you listen to?”, is a question that has the ability to make me forget every song I’ve ever heard in my life.
